Losing Weight Is Mission Possible

Is it impossible to lose weight in our world? And if we succeed, how long can we stay in shape? Anyone who tried it and I bet at least every second woman and every fourth man did, will admit that it is very hard. The TV commercials, the shops full of sweets, chocolate and pizzas, countless restaurants at every street corner – it all keeps shouting: EAT! It seems it would be the best to leave the country, hide somewhere on a small island and go on a diet having only the products that we are allowed to eat. We could stay there until we are slim without being distracted by all the temptations.

But the time will come when we will have to abandon our asylum and come back to the normal world with shops, restaurants and TV commercials. What then? How will we cope being surrounded by all the food traps? Maybe the island is not the best idea after all. There must be a better solution.

Dieticians claim that this is not as complicated as we may think. First of all, instead of considering losing weight as a fight, they advise to think of it more as a challenge. It should be our own achievement, not a war. Then we have to realize that going on a diet doesn’t mean we have to say goodbye to our favorite foods. We will just have to cut down on some products. So we shouldn’t worry that we will never eat kebab with pita bread again, we just have to make sure we don’t eat it every day. We don’t have to quit drinking coke, we just have to limit it to one or two glasses per week. Nutrition specialists also warn us that we shouldn’t start a diet without a plan. It all has to be prepared before, we should think about our goals and the time we will need to achieve them. It is also advised that we consult a psychologist before going on a diet to help us deal with difficulties we might encounter in future.

Experts often say that the secret is to learn to replace some products with the lighter ones, trying to keep the taste quality of the meal the same. Instead of using sugar we should take the sweetener, instead of white bread we can eat the dark one which is much healthier. We should choose chicken over pork which has more fat in it.

Some people tried to lose weight by eating only one group of products while avoiding the products from other groups. There was for example a carbohydrate diet, fat diet or protein diet. But these methods were proved wrong because our system needs all of the three main groups of products. The difference is in the location of the products in a hierarchy of nutrition. We need proteins the most, then the carbohydrates and finally fats. Our menu should be a balanced combination of those products.

As we can all see it just takes some basic information, a bit of professional help and mostly our good will to succeed in losing weight!
